Kylian Mbappé shared that certain individuals at Paris Saint-Germain made him "unhappy" during his first news conference since joining Real Madrid.
Mbappé officially moved to Madrid on a free transfer on Monday, concluding a long-running transfer saga.
"I wasn't unhappy at PSG, that would be a slap in the face to those who supported me—I have always been happy," Mbappé stated at a news conference with the French national team on Tuesday. "But certain things made me unhappy. As a leader, I couldn't show it, so I tried to stay positive. The coach, players, and club employees backed me, and it would be unfair to complain and say I was unhappy. However, certain things and people did make me unhappy."
Mbappé clashed with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi last summer over the extension of his contract beyond the end of the season.
The 25-year-old revealed that PSG indicated he wouldn't play at all in the just-concluded season until he was "saved" by manager Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos.
"They [the club] made it clear that I wouldn't play—they told me directly and harshly," Mbappé said. "Luis Enrique and Luis Campos saved me. Without them, I wouldn't have stepped on the pitch again. Just being able to play was a great source of pride, but I won't be satisfied with another season like that."
